Central review Russian hardcore

Central

From Russia with rage. Over seven tracks, Central charge forward with quick, succinct chunky hardcore. Pummeling raucous rhythms comes rather naturally to Central. Inspired by bands like TYF, Bold, Rival Mob, Central represent the remote region of Vladimir; which is about 300 miles from Russia’s eastern border. Exploring the map, these poor bastards look rather isolated. But hell, they have cultivated quite a sound.

There is not much too elaborate. Songs range from 30 seconds to 90 seconds. But do not allow that to lower any expectations. This EP kills. Raging Youth crew style but the gritty, angry type. Straight forward production; but tight, crisp, and dark. I love the frantic riff of track 3; the big open feel of track 4 before Central hit full throttle. It bleeds into a taut breakdown – NYHC creepy crawl style. Track 6 stands out too with a cool, descending riff that jumps into a spastic-fast  riff. A little feedback with a tempered bass drum pedal stomps for the last half of the one minute track.

Central give hardcore fans a fantastic record. Intensity is the priority. The savagery can unite any listener despite a language barrier. The music is engaging and immediate. Central plays with sweat and an urgency. I wish I knew what they were saying.

RIYL: Free, The Geeks, Youth Of Today, Bold, The Rival Mob, The First Step, Mindset, Ten Yard Fight.
